There is no filing status called "retired." Your choices for filing status are Single, Married filing Jointly, Married Filing Separately, Head of Household, or Qualifying Widow(er)
If you want to use "Retired" as an "occupation" you can enter that in My Info. It will have no effect on your tax return. When you come to the screen to enter income read it carefully and if you will not have any W-2's for 2020 then there is a spot where you can click that you do not have any W-2's.
You will enter your other income in a different place(s) in the software.
Will you have Social Security to enter? You get a SSA1099 in January from Social Security:
Do not try to enter your SSA1099 or RR1099RB as a W-2. Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.
Will you receive 1099R (s) for money from a pension plan or from a retirement account?
To enter your retirement income, Go to Federal> Wages and Income>Retirement Plans and Social Security>IRA 401 k) Pension Plan Withdrawals to enter your 1099R.
