Hi, vanguard says it's not sending out form 5498 until May. Does that mean I don't have to submit my 2020 ira contributions for my taxes this year?

You must report your 2020 IRS contributions on your 2020 tax return.  Use information from your own records.  Because you can make a 2020 contribution as late as April 15, 2021, most trustees wait until May to send form 5498.

No, you will still enter your contributions on your tax return. You can get that information from your statement for 2020. But if you contribute in 2021 before the due date for 2020 then you will have to enter this as well.

  1. Login to your TurboTax Account
  2. Click on the Search box on the top and type “IRA contributions”
  3. Click on “Jump to IRA contributions"
