Does the 1099 R need to be an original to mail with tax return or can a copy be used

I had Federal tax withheld from my IRA distribution but do not have the original 1099 R only a copy. Can the copy be used for filing or must I contact the pension company for an original

If you are filing a paper return you can send a copy of the form, you don't have to mail the original.
