Does social security and medicare get paid when I file my taxes?

I worked as an independent contractor last year from September until the present. I received a 1099-MISC and did not pay any social security/medicare tax. Does the payment for this get factored into how my I owe when I file? Will the amount I have due include my social security/medicare tax payments?

Yes, when you enter all of your self-employment information, TurboTax will calculate your self-employment tax for Social Security and Medicare.    (15.3%)   That will be included with the amount you owe, or will be factored in to the amount of your tax refund.
