Does federal add the w2 and 1099 pension together for the taxable amount ?

The W-2 and 1099-R are entered indifferent sections of the program. If the taxable amount of your 1099-R penision income is not shown in box 2a of your 1099-R, the follow up questions that you answer will help TurboTax determine how much of it is taxable.

TurboTax then adds all your taxable income from all entries together to determine your gross income and subsequently your adjusted gross income. Your deductions and exemptions are subtracted from the AGI to determine your taxable income.
