Does anyone know why Turbo Tax will not let me efile because I don't have a NJ state payer number for my 1099R?

If you had state tax withheld from your 1099-R, the state payer ID must be entered in box 15.   If there is no amount in box 14 or box 16, you can leave all 3 blank.    Ask the issuer for the information if it is not there and state tax was withheld.  

Turbotax will not allow me to e-file my 2023 Alabama state return because the 1099-R does not have the State payer’s number in box 15. It only shows the state, AL, on this form. The 1099-R is for payments from a Defined Benefit Plan. Alabama does not tax Defined Benefit Plans, so Box 14 and Box 16 are blank.

My 1099-R for 2022 was also for Defined Benefit Plan payments and it also did not show the state payer’s number, only the state name. Turbotax allowed me to e-fie my Alabama state return for 2022.

Why does Turbotax no longer allow me to e-file my Alabama return for 2023?
