If your ONLY income for 2022 was Social Security, you do not have to file an income tax return.

You must file a federal return if half your SS or RRTA benefits plus your other income exceeds

Single, HOH, or qualifying widower  $25,000

Married filing Jointly  $32,000

Married filing Separately $0

While you don’t have to file some like to file in case a future stimulus depends on a prior filing.
