Do I include a late 2018 rmd as income for 2018?

Inherited IRA. I took my rmd for 2018 late. I took it in January 2019. I already filed the 5923 and got the letter from IRS saying my penalty has been waived. So how do I treat the withdrawal on my 2018 taxes?  Do I wait and report it for the 2019 tax year?

This distribution is to be reported on your 2019 tax return, not on your 2018 tax return.  The code 4 2019 Form 1099-R that you receive early next year will report the sum of this distribution and the one you take to satisfy the RMD for 2019.
