Direct Charitable Donations from an IRA

I will be 73 in August 2025 and made charitable contributions directly from my IRA to avoid paying income taxes.  How do I report these contributions?  Do I need to report these contributions?

Yes, you need to enter the 1099-R for this distribution.

Because of your age, after you enter the numbers for the 1099-R, TurboTax will ask you some questions; one of which will be (more or less) did you have the IRA administrator send any of this money to a charity?

When you are finished with these questions, the QCD (Qualified Charitable Distribution) will be handled on your return.
