Deductions & Credits sheet show I have an Early Savings Withdrawal Penalty for $16 for 2022. I'm 74 years old and doing my RMD for over 10 years. How did this Happen?

It would be unusual to see a Savings Withdrawal Penalty in the Deductions & Credits section.

I suggest we take a look at your actual tax return and see what is posted. On the menu bar on the left that shows.

  1. My Info
  2. Federal
  3. State
  4. Review
  5. File
  6. Select Tax Tools
  7. On the drop-down select Tools
  8. On the popup menu
  9. Select View Tax Summary
  10. On the left sidebar

Select Preview my 1040.

On your 1040 an Early Withdrawal Penalty is included with other things on line 10.

If you continue to scroll down to the end of your 1040, you will find Schedule 1.

The Early Withdrawal Penalty is posted to line 18.

If this does not completely answer your question, please contact us again and provide some additional details.

This has nothing to do with any RMD from a retirement account.  This would only come from a deductible early-withdrawal penalty on something like a CD independent of any retirement account, reported in box 2 of a Form 1099-INT.
