If this was a 2018 contribution made in 2019 then if you filed an extension or timely filed your 2018 tax return then yiu have until October 15, 2019 to remove it as a "return of contribution".

For a 2019 contribution, you can ask the IRA custodian for a "return of contribution" (not a normal distribution) up to the due date of the 2019 tax return (April 15, 2020) or extended due date (October 15, 2020) if you file an extension in 2020 before the April 15 due date).   Any earnings attributed to the contribution must also be returned and will be taxable income and also subject to a 10% penalty if you are under age 59 1/2.

It is not clear if you instructed the IRA custodian to make this a 2018 or 2019 contribution?
