Can you help me with filing tax with 1099 form?

I am in India throughout the year and did not have salary income and W2. However, I need file tax as I have stock dividend and capital gain. How can I do my tax filing for that?

If you are a US resident or US citizen, then you will have to report your worldwide income.

Please follow these steps to enter your income dividend income/ stock sales:

  1. Login to your TurboTax Account
  2. Click on "Search" on the top right and type “1099-DIV” (for Form 1099-B enter "1099-B")
  3. Click on “Jump to 1099-DIV”

If you are a nonresident then you will have to file a nonresident return (Form 1040NR) with TurboTax's partner Sprintax.  TurboTax does not support Form 1040NR for a nonresident.

A nonresident alien is an alien who has not passed the Green Card Test or the Substantial Presence Test.
