Can you enter the correct information for a 1099-R as corrected instead of filing a substitute 1099-R?

Still waiting for the corrections and would like to enter them as they will be corrected.

You can certainly enter the corrected information into your return so that you can see how it is affected by the corrected values, but you should not file the return until you have received the corrected Form 1099-R.  Once you have it in hand, you know that the IRS will have also received the corrected version and there will not be a mis-match of information in their system.
