If Social Security was your ONLY income during 2023, you are not required to file a tax return unless you have had health insurance from healthcare.gov and have a 1095A to enter.

You need to file a federal return if half your Social Security plus your other income is $25,000 when filing single or head of household, or $32,000 when filing married filing jointly, $0 if you are filing married filing separately.

Sometime during January 2024 you will receive a document called a SSA1099 from Social Security that shows the SS benefits you received in 2023.

Do not try to enter your SSA1099  or RR1099RB as a W-2.  Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security  (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.
