Can I claim my mother in law as a dependent if she had a $4,375 withdrawal from her 401K in 2016? She gets social security and a small pension each month as well.

My mother in law lives with us, and we provide more than 50% of her support.   In previous years, I have claimed her as a dependent, but she had to take the 401k withdrawal in 2016 due to her automobile.

You cannot for 2016, as her income was more than $4,050.
