The code(s) in Box 7 of your Form 1099-R help to identify the type of distribution you received. TurboTax uses these codes and your answers to some interview questions to determine if your distribution is taxable or subject to an early withdrawal penalty.
Enter the information on your 1099-R as it appears.
You should ask your Financial Institution who issued the Form 1099-R for the correct code if you do not know it. It is important that you enter the correct code as this will be the determining factor if the distribution is taxable or not. Do not guess, only enter a code if you are sure that it is correct.
