Both my wife I never signed up for Medicare Part D, but our Social Security checks each have a $897.60 reduction for Part D. Is that right?

No - If neither you nor your wife ever signed up for Medicare Part D, you should not have that payment deducted from your Social Security checks.

I recommend you check with the Social Security Administration to get this straightened out.
