Are there any exceptions to the rule that forces both spouses to itemize when one does?

I'm going through a bitter divorce and the wife with much higher income is itemizing (mostly the mortgage interest on the house), however I have nothing to itemize since I'm renting (meaning a huge tax bill for me if I can't take the standard deduction). She's unwilling (for a spite) to file jointly.

You also have to itemize unless you live with a qualifying child to enable you to file as head of household.

Thank you for your answer - unfortunately that doesn't apply to me - I live by myself.
