2. Does Life Insurance Policies and Provident Fund (PF)/ Public Provident Fund (PPF) accounts come under deposit accounts in Form 8938?

These are typically custodial accounts for purposes of this form.  The IRS, however, generally doesn't penalize if you mark the wrong choice here so long as you are reporting the asset.
