1099R taxable amount not determined

how to calculate taxable amount on 1099R that states - taxable amount not determined

The software calculates it for you.    You just enter your 1099R exactly as it appears.

Where do you get Turbo Tax to calculate the taxable amount when i1099R states taxable amount not determined? I don't know where to look or how to get it to calculate the amount for me. Thanks

If you did not make any non-deductible contributions, the entire amount would be taxable.  All 1099Rs from an IRA are marked with the taxable amount not determined.  As you enter the 1099R, in the screens that follow you will be asked if you made any non-deductible contributions.  If you answer yes, then the taxable amount would be decreased.  If you answer no, then the entire amount is taxable.

Look at your form 1040 on lines 5a and 5b

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.
