1099R info has been entered correctly with Box 1 Gross Distribution amt and Box 2a Taxable amount as 0.00. Why is the Gross amount included in my Total Taxable income?

All information was entered exactly as shown on the 1099R

The screen you are probably seeing is showing all income received, taxable and non-taxable.

Look at your federal tax return, Form 1040.

If the distribution was from a pension or an annuity, the taxable amount, if any, will be entered on Line 5b of the Form 1040

If the distribution was from an IRA, the taxable amount, if any, will be entered on Line 4b of the Form 1040

You can view your Form 1040 plus Schedules 1, 2 and 3 at any time using the online editions. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.

What code is in box 7 on the 1099R?

If you are looking at a summary screen or review screen those show the full amount as income and lump a lot of stuff together. You need to check the actual 1040 form and make sure it's right. Check lines 4b & 5b for any taxable amounts. For a rollover line b should be zero or just the taxable amount and the word Rollover by it.

Before filing you can preview the 1040 or print the whole return
