1099 R when opened in State filing (NY) shows wrong owner

I have entered 4 1099R for federal taxes.  Two are mine two are my wife's.

My two are from the same payer.

When I start my state return this information is brought in by turbo tax, BUT it has the wrong payee, my wife instead of myself.  When I go back to look at in in the Fed return is has also change to the incorrect payee.

I have tried to correct this three times.  Still the same.

Is this a BUG in the system??

Yes, it might be a software issue. The SSN and the name on the 1099-R may somehow be incorrectly interchanged.  The IRS looks for name/SSN match so that could be the problem.

You can switch to Forms mode and see if you can fix the names / SSN's  there.

If this does not work then we suggest deleting the 1098 R forms and starting again (not in Forms mode).  

How do I view and delete forms in TurboTax Online?

  • Open or continue your return in TurboTax.
  • In the left menu, select Tax Tools and then Tools.
  • In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
  • Select Delete next to the form/schedule/worksheet in the list and follow the instructions.
