Taxpayer identification number

I got a letter from the IRS asking me to verify my taxpayer identification number.  I thought I signed my return with the appropriate ID number, could you please advise me as to what to do.  I am suspicious that this may be a fraudulent letter.  Can you advise me?

Are you sure it says to verify your "Taxpayer identification number?"  Or is it a 5071C Letter?
