I have worked the last 35 years. This year I was out for knee replacement. I filed for disability but haven't gotten it yet. How can I file for the stimulus check?

I did not take unemployment...I asked for no help, but obviously could use the $600. I'm supposed to be eligible for. How can I recover that?

If you didn't work, you can still file a return to claim the rebate.  If you had no income at all (no bank interest?) you will need to give yourself $1 of fake income so you can e-file.  Enter the name of a bank and put $1 of interest not on a 1099-INT.  The IRS has never objected to this workaround before.  Then you should be able to claim up to $1800 in stimulus rebate.

However, the rebate section of the program is not ready.  There is a major update maybe tomorrow, but it might not fix all issues.  The IRS won't open e-filing until January 27 so wait until then.
