How do I tag the year when buying an IRA retroactively (for applying to previous year's taxes in progress)?

When buying an IRA in 2021 before April how do I designate that it retroactive to 2020 taxes? Does the place I purchase it from (e.g. Ally Invest) put that year tag on it?
