Dependent Stimulus Credit

I am wondering if there are single parents in this community who had to allow the non-custodial parent to claim their dependents due to state laws even though your children live with you full-time? I claimed my children for the EIC living with me credit, but could not claim the dependent credit for 2019 and this resulted in not receiving the dependent portion of the stimulus check. I have full custody and provide 95 percent of the expenses for the children yet their dad received the dependent portion. This doesn't seem like the IRS took this into consideration and checked the portion on taxes where it states dependents live with you 12 months out of the year. Anyone else have this same issue?

@Ciaralily27 - when the CARES ACT was passed it was done very quickly and there were very few rules considered - if there had been LOTs of rules, Congress would still be arguing about it is my fear!

I would agree Congress didn't take it into consideration, but that is the way the law was passed.
