Back Taxes Owed

Seeking advice on back taxes owed.  Something is very fishy with my ex wife.  We divorced in 2019.  This year, 2021, she told me we owe back taxes from 2016, and she is paying the full $9K herself. I have never been notified of owing, and have seen zero documentation. Fishy thing is, she was evicted in 2020 and her default judgment was $8,860. I stay on top of my taxes, and just today, I received notice I now owe $2,500, and have zero idea why. Any idea what might be going on?

No one here can see any of your information or see your tax returns or access your IRS tax account.  But you can.  Look at your account on the IRS site:

https://www.irs.gov/payments/view-your-tax-account

You do not say who sent you a notice that you owe $2500.

And---talk to the attorney who represented you in the divorce.   If your ex owes back taxes from the time when you were married you need legal advice.
