My husband has Dementia, is currently in a Nursing Home, waiting for a place in a Memory Care Unit, my out of pocket cost is $3,100. per month, is all of it deductible?

This deduction is for next year. He was admitted to the Nursing Home in January, and was suppose to return home after Care. However, he has "gone downhill" in the past month, and his doctor/neurologist is suggesting permanent stay.

Ask the facility for the medical portion of the monthly fee ... they should have given you this info in January.

The medical portion is deductible as medical expenses, subject to itemizing and the 7.5% of AGI rule.
