I'm active duty military. My home of record is Illinois. They don't take out state taxes and I don't have a state EIN on my w-2 ever. Do I need to file a state return?
I'm stationed in Nevada and want to make sure I've been doing it right or need to file previous years state's returns

No, if your only source of income is the military income then no need to file a state return. If you have other income you may need to file a state return. See the Illinois Department of Revenue link: http://tax.illinois.gov/QuestionsAndAnswers/100.htm
