I am trying to file a non-resident state return for Missouri. I am military but my income is not military related. However, TurboTax is auto-selecting military. Help!

This is just a technical issue with TurboTax. I don't have the option of selecting Box 1 on MO-NRI. TurboTax automatically selects Box 3 since I am military but I can't figure out how to stop it from doing that. I am active duty, live in TN, and my home of record is IL. I have a rental property in MO, which is why I'm trying to file income taxes there.

I assume that you are now renting the Missouri home after moving from Illinois to Missouri and then Tennessee.

The TaxBook states:

The servicemember is presumed to be domiciled in Missouri if he or she entered the Armed Forces in Missouri.

I also presume that you answer NO to the question Did you enter or leave the military during 2024 while domiciled in Missouri, or while a Missouri resident?

I assume that you were not living in Missouri at all in 2024.  Is that correct?

Within the Missouri state income return, at the screen Duty Station and Home of Record, I answered Illinois as the Home of Record.  MO Duty Station was left blank.

In TurboTax Premium Online, on Missouri MO-NRI, I am reporting also reporting Box 3 but I am correctly reporting Tennessee as the Duty Station and Illinois as the Home of Record.

The Missouri state income tax return reports only the rental income.
