Unfortunately, Blank is not an option. It's the title of the box. It indicates that your 1099-B is blank on the brokerage form.
There are only 2 alternatives.
- Enter a date.
- Select Various.
The date is used to confirm long/short term gains.
- If you know approximately when you purchased it, use a similar date.
- If you have a history of the stock, you can find a value close to the purchase price and use that date.
- Or as @robtm suggested, you can use Variable, and it will default to the sales section posted earlier for this record.
