My son purchased Turbotax Home & Business software (download version). My son installed it on his computer and now I installed it on my computer. After installation, it asked me to assign in with my Turbotax account first which I did, then it asked to enter the license code. After that, Turbotax software said "This license code is already linked to another account. Try login with another account".
To my understanding, Turbotax license code can be used on 3 computers, can we use different Turbotax login on 3 different computers with the same license code?
Your son can install his TurboTax download on up to 5 computers that he owns. But all the installations have to use the same account. He can use the same license code on up to 5 different computers that he owns, but they all have to use the same account.
Why the h*** would anyone own 5 different computers and need to file 5 returns of his/her own?????? This is super deceitful and doesn't make any sense.
To keep folks from buying one download and illegally selling copies of the download to others the TT program now requires all 5 downloads to be registered using the same user's account.
If you are using the download for multiple family members (like your kids who use their own computers) you should have no qualms about giving them your userID and password to your account. This only registers the download to each computer ... at no time will they be able to see the returns on your computer and you will not see their returns on their computer.
If you’re married and filing separately, each person will have their own account. TurboTax securely stores the filing PIN and other necessary information within each individual’s account. Consequently, sharing the account is not a feasible option.
Does it apply to TurboTax Premier edition too? That all five activation has to go through the same Intuit account? BTW, is it illegal to share the five efiles among non-family members? Why can't we share a 5-user license among strangers if they are splitting the cost of the license?
You only have to log into the same online account to install and activate the program. Then to file a return you can use your own account. And the returns are only on the computer that filed it. They are not in the online account so so no one else can see your return, unless they use your computer.
The biggest problem is that all the responses go to one email address. That will make it hard to tell which responses go to which individuals taxes.
Sorry, Looks like that has already been addressed by using one account to activate the software, but sign in to multiple accounts to file taxes. We'll see if that works.
I may be slow, but what does my online account mean.
From the link below:
An Intuit account is the account you use to access any of Intuit’s products, including TurboTax and QuickBooks, as well as future products Intuit may offer. You must have an Intuit account before you can access any Intuit products. Your account includes the User ID and password you provide to sign up and sign in, as well as the email address, phone number, and other contact information you provide. You can use the same User ID and password for every Intuit product you choose to use. Your Intuit account information will be accessible through any Intuit product you may use.
What do I need to know about my Intuit Account?
