The capital gains distributions on one of my 1099-div does not appear in my return

if you have other capital gains or losses then capital gain dividends flow first to schedule D. They are combined with all other capital gains and losses. finally only line 16 of schedule D flow to the 1040. if you have no other  capital gains or losses the cap gain div should appear on line 7 of the 1040
