Should i be entering real estate taxes as if I paid them, when in essence my tenants rent pays the taxes?

Yes, the property taxes are considered paid by you, so you enter them as a rental expense.  If you're renting space in the house you live in, then you'll have to allocate a portion of those property taxes to your personal residence, but you'll still get to deduct that portion (on Schedule A).
