Reporting RSU and ESPP transactions

Our 1099-B shows several lots of stock shares all sold on the same day. These lots of stocks were purchased on various days, some are ESPP and some are RSU. They are all long term.

The 1099-B was imported into TT, so when I get to the part where it covers stocks, they show up as one transaction with an amount for Total Long Term proceeds, and a Total Cost Basis. The 'Acquired Date' shows up as 'Various'.

When I 'Edit' the info for these shares, TT asks if I should 'Enter one sale at a time' or 'Enter a summary for each sales category'. They are all in Box D (Long term covered), but some of the sales are RSU and some are ESPP.

are they flowing to form 8949 and then schedule D line 8b or are they appearing on schedule D line 8a

if line 8a - no details are required because all the required info is present. holding period, sales price, and tax basis. the fact they are RSU or ESPP's makes no difference.

on the other hand if line 8b - details of each trade is supposed to be supplied. a trade is different if it's a different security or the same security but the acquisition or sales date are different. also if there are manual adjustments that affect the gain or loss.

I'm sorry, I didn't ask my question correctly.

What I meant to ask is, should I 'Enter one sale at a time' OR 'Enter a summary for each sales category'?

Depending on what I click, the forms will go to Schedule D line 8b OR Schedule D line 8a.

If the RSU's and ESPP stock were all purchased over 4 years ago (they are long term sells), then can I just "enter a summary"? Does it matter that they are RSU or ESPP stock? Can I just treat them as regular stock?
