Renting out a house that we lived in for 9 months. Shortly after the renters moved in the washer broke. We replaced the washer and dryer. Can I write off the full value?

If each item costs $2500 or less, you may expense each item. If these items cost more, then these would need to be depreciated over a five-year period.

If you expense them, enter each item separately unless the total cost does not exceed $2500.

Hi dave thank you but I think I figured out the problem; I put that we lived in the house for part of the year, but it was really asking me was if we lived there after we had put it up for rent. So that problem is solved.
