Pre IPO VC issued me 4 K-1 equivalents for my investments but won’t tell me how to file it. can’t find answers calling the IRS, the IRS website or in a google search.

VC is a foreign company with domestic offices. all investments listed as domestic. I cannot find anything anywhere on how to properly report a K-1 equivalent for a pre IPO company

I don't normally recommend this because it may be construed as a marketing ploy but I recommend you upgrade to one of the live Services in turbo Tax online just to receive online help with live Turbo Tax Experts. The only reason why I recommend this is that there is too little information given for us to comment on and the complexities that may arise. It could result in incorrect assumptions that may impact your return.  To upgrade:

  1. Sign into your current account and open or continue your return.
  2. Select the Live Tax Advice button.
  3. Select Upgrade to choose Live help.

You'll see your TurboTax Live price in this screen. Don't worry about paying for TurboTax Live before you speak to a tax expert. You'll pay when you file your taxes.

Also if you receive these same K1's in future years, you will be able to prepare these yourself from the preparation advice you receive this year.

I shouldn’t have to pay someone to tell me specifically where to file this correctly. It’s a K-1, that eliminates 99% of locations. But it’s not a straight up K-1. If the answer is simply that i don’t have to include the EIN, that’s fine - but then i cannot e-file and i have to print out a 100 page return and mail it in. I simply find it unacceptable that this is apparently a great big secret that no one wants to speak about. Surely there are plenty of people out there that have invested in a pre IPO company before.
