On federal review, I am being asked about a form 3921. But I do not have stock options / did not sell employee stock. Why am I being asked about a form 3921?

Did I enter some information somewhere on the form in the income section to get this prompt?

Did you exercise stock option?

Form 3921 is an IRS Form that reports the exercise of an employee Incentive Stock Option (ISOs).

Exercising a stock option means purchasing the issuer's common stock at the price set by the option (grant price), regardless of the stock's price at the time you exercise the option.

To revisit form 3921 section:

  1. Login to your account.
  2. Type in the search box Form 3921.
  3. Select Jump tp form 3921.
  4. On the following screen select I neither bought or sold ISOs this year.

Hi Maya, thanks for the response. Unfortunately, I tried this but it is still asking me for the form 3921 information when I do the federal review. I have stock grants as part of my employee incentive but do not have stock options. Wondering what I entered for Turbotax to think that I have stock options. Any further ideas would be great - thanks!

Revisit the Investment section and check if you accidently clicked on ISO exercise and Hold or if you received a 1099-B, revisit the Stock, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other and review your entries.

  • Login to your account.
  • Select Federal from the left menu
  • Go to Wages and Income then Income and Expenses.
  • Scroll down to Investment Income.
