Moving back into rental depreciating question

Moving back into rental. Replacing carpets that were in house during tenants. Can I depreciate this on the year I claim the partial year of rent? Or no since I am moving back in? Thanks!

Will tenants get use of the carpet? If no, then you have nothing to depreciate. In fact, you won't even add it in the assets/depreciation section at all. At least, not unless and until you convert the property back to rental use again.

When the last renter moves out, the property and all it's assets are converted to personal use on day after the last renter moves out. All depreciation on all assets stops on that day.
