Installing tile on a farm

I own 40 acres that I cash rent to a farmer.  In 2024, I paid $10,000 to install drainage tile on my property.   Is there a deduction available and if so, where do I input it in Turbo Tax.  Thank you

Yes, you can report expenses for Farm Rental activity on Schedule E

The easiest way to find any section of TurboTax Online, is to open your return, go to Tax Tools in the left column >> Tools >> Topic Search. Type in your topic, click the topic in the list and then GO to go directly to the start of that section. In TurboTax for Desktop, use the Search box or Show Topics.

On the page "What type of rental is this?", choose "Land (raw land rented to others)."

Enter the Land Improvement under Assets/Depreciation.

If you have other expenses (property tax, insurance), add those under Expenses.
