If you have sold stocks, you need to enter your forms 1099-B received from your broker.

In TurboTax, you can enter your form 1099-B by following these steps:

  1. In TurboTax, open your tax return
  2. Click on Federal in the left-hand column, then on Wages & Income on top of the screen
  3. Scroll down to All Income, locate the section Investment Income and click on Show more
  4. Click Start next to Stocks, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other.

If you only bought stock, it doesn't go anywhere on your tax return. You only report when you sell stock. To enter the sale of stock follow the instructions that MinhT1 gave you, or type "investment sales" (without the quotes) in the Search box, then click the link that says "Jump to investment sales."

You cannot report the sale of stock in TurboTax Deluxe Online. You will have to upgrade to Premier or higher. When you start to enter an investment sale it will prompt you to upgrade.
