If turbotax deluxe won't allow stock activity entry in 2016 I don't want it!

Who told you it would not?  The TurboTax 2016 desktop editions have the very same forms and schedules they had for tax year 2015.   The 2016 Deluxe edition includes Form 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ along with Schedules A, B, C, D, E and F, just like each and every other 2016 desktop edition.

Go to this TurboTax website for the desktop CD/Download editions, scroll down under Deluxe and click on View Forms - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download/

OP is asking from TT Online, which requires Premier.

Well, they got an answer for the desktop editions which are a far superior product anyway.  But, yes if you really want to use the online editions, the Premier edition would have to be used to report investment sales, not the Deluxe online edition.

I think a lot of folks end up with the Online edition because it's the first screen they see.
