I rented out my house last year. I amended my taxes. I had a new heating and cooling system installed. Am I allowed to deduct that expense. I wasn't given that option.

Those are assets and should be entered as such in the same place you entered the home as an asset to be depreciated ... if you did not enter the home as well then in the Rental section go to the asset entry and do so now.
