I rented a home from 2006-October, 2015, renovated it, and sold it at a loss in June, 2016. Where do I report this?

If you reported the rental of the home on Schedule E, you should have an asset worksheet for the house.  At the top of the page, click View, then in the drop down window click Forms.  Go down the left side if the page and click on the Asset Worksheet for the house.  On the asset worksheet, go down to the disposition section, and fill our all of the information related to the sale of the house.  That should automatically populate a gain or loss from the sale and put it on the correct line on your return.
