I have a small amount of stocks and am wondering if it is worth having stocks vs the tax prep fee? TY

Are you buying/sellling the stocks?  Or do you mean you just "own" the stock?   If you buy/sell and get a 1099B then you will need to use Premium online TurboTax or any version of the desktop download software.   If you just "own" stocks and do not do any transactions that generate a 1099B then then you have nothing about the stocks to enter on your tax return and may be able to use a lower version of the software.
