I enter the income from a K-1 for royalty income, but it doesn't show up in my summary of income.

Royalty Income is reported on Schedule E in your tax return, and is considered Investment Income, rather than Wages.

This income (or loss)  is reported on  Form 1040, Schedule 1, Line 5.

Thanks for trying. I am aware it is supposed to end up on Schedule E, but it always shows $0 instead of the amount I enter from the K-1. I may have a problem with the program.

did you ever figure this out? My K-1 royalties are also showing up at $0 on my 1040 when entered in through the program. Can't figure out why.

If they do not carry to the Schedule E, I suggest you go directly to enter the royalties on your tax return and keep the K1 in your files. This will eliminate your issue.

To enter your royalties in TurboTax Desktop or TurboTax Online use the following steps

  1. Search (upper right) > type royalties > Click the  Jump to... link
  2. Continue to answer the questions > Select to 'Add Another Rental or Royalty'  > Select 'Royalty property or payment'
  3. Continue to enter your royalties and any expenses if applicable.
  4. See the image below for assistance.
