I am filing "married filing seperately" after filing married last year,

I have multiple rental properties that are not all fully depreciated.  I'm only using turbotax, not any other software for tracking expense. how do I preserve the depreciation schedules from previous years while still changing my filing status?  The system is recommending I start a new return instead of importing from the previous year.

It may normally be a good idea to start a new return when switching from married-joint to married-separate, but that would only apply to a simpler return than yours.

You should not start a new return, but stick with importing from the previous year since you have rental properties and the related depreciation schedules and carryover items. You just need to delete any income, deduction or credit information that belongs to your spouse.
