I am being asked to file Schedule E even though I don't have any rental property or royalties. Why am I getting this request?

You need Schedule E (Form 1040) to report income or loss from rental real estate, royalties, income reported on a Schedule K-1 from partnerships, S corporations, estates, trusts, and residual interests in REMICs.
