So I have access to my trading history csv from kucoin. However, before I started trading, I received some crypto from another account. TurboTax's software wants me to enter every source, which I am unable to do since I do not have access to the wallet from which I received crypto. However, I do have access to a deposits/withdrawals csv file (in addition to the trading history file), which can account for the fact that according to my trading history, I sold more of some crypto than I should have had. Can someone please guide me on solving this problem as I cannot access the previous account/wallet, but can provide my trading history and deposits/withdrawals information from my current wallet itself
As a possible work-around, you can manually report the cryptocurrency you received from the old wallet. If you can report these transactions manually, then delete any reference to them on your Kucoin csv file to prevent any double-counting and possible error messages indicating that you have missing information.
I see - is it okay to report that crypto as a buy in my trading history csv? Please let me know.
Yes. Report it as a buy with the actual buy date as much as you can approximate it. Then you put in what you actually paid for it. As long as you have the records from the old wallet to back this data up it is fine.
