Depreciation for the house itself must be 27.5 year SL so that is all it will allow. What else are you trying to depreciate?
Ah, thanks, I was thinking I could use 200% DB, but I see from the publications you are right. I put carpet in that I will want to depreciate, but will probably have to do that SL also.
Carpeting is 5 year property and is eligible for the bonus depreciation if you want it . The program will help you with the entries just follow the interview.
Under MACRS, property that you placed in service during 2016 in your rental activities generally falls into one of the following classes.
5-year property. This class includes computers and peripheral equipment, office machinery (typewriters, calculators, copiers, etc.), automobiles, and light trucks.
This class also includes appliances, carpeting, and furniture used in a residential rental real estate activity.
Depreciation is limited on automobiles and other property used for transportation; computers and related peripheral equipment; and property of a type generally used for entertainment, recreation, or amusement. See chapter 5 of Pub. 946.
